Oh boy, where do I start? So much has happened this year! So, for today’s blog we are wrapping up 2015!
Hey everyone! Today for Wedding Wednesday, we are going to show you how to make your own escort/place cards for your wedding or event!
This tutorial is super easy, low budget, and really fun – or at least for me it is. I love any DIY project you throw my way! Actually, starting in 2016, maybe we start sharing one DIY project a week! We’ll keep you posted!
To check out more of my DIY products that I often sell, head to my Etsy shop! Feel free to shoot me an email if you are interested in something I don’t have up. I love thinking of new products I can put on Etsy.
“Escort/place card tutorial!”
Liquid food coloring
A decent size bowl
Paper cutter or x-acto knife – I used this one because I do a lot of cutting with my Etsy orders
THE STEPS (If you are working with a calligrapher, you can skip to the second step)
First, choose a font on your computer, space accordingly and begin printing.
Second, begin measuring and cutting your cardstock.
Next, fill your container up with water and put 20+ food coloring drops into the water. Stir well. Also, be sure to lay out a paper towel for the cardstock to dry on.
Now, you can begin dipping your cut pieces of cardstock into the food coloring a couple of times. Feel free to dip them in straight or tilted depending on the effect you want. If you want them to be more perfect then I would suggest, once you do your last dip, shake off the little bits of water dripping off the end of the paper and then dab the bottom on the paper towel before laying it flat on the paper towel to dry. If you would like them to all be a little different, then once you do your last dip, you can go ahead and lay it flat on the paper towel. Some of the colored water will form a circle and dry and others will sneak up the cardstock leaving a wavy colored effect to the paper. I’ve done them all and they look great!
I usually let them dry for the day just to be sure. On the following day, I will often press them to make sure they are super flat (mine are not flattened in the photo). You can do this by placing them on a clean surface and placing some clean heavy books on them – leave them there for a full day.
Now you have some awesome custom made escort/place cards for your wedding or event! Have fun finding creative ideas of how to incorporate them into your design. You could even take your project a little further and punch holes in the top of each card, buy a piece of wood from the hardware store (or on Amazon – gosh I love that place), some nails, and hammer the nails into the wood allowing you to hang each escort cards on the board. This would be a great escort card table/display!
Tips on organizing your small business! With the end of the year closing in on us fast, and tax season right around the corner, we figured this topic would be perfect!
