Traditional vs Nontraditional Wedding Cakes

It used to be commonplace to go with a traditional wedding cake when planning your wedding. However, nontraditional cakes are the talk of the town now. Personally, I am a nontraditional kind of girl so I would totally go with a nontraditional wedding cake. How about you?

So what makes a cake steer clear of the traditional category? Well let’s see…square tiers, miss matched tiers, tiers that are not equal, different colored wedding cakes, cake topers, and the list goes on. I say just have fun with it! But don’t worry if you are the kind of person that needs to satisfy a family member who wants the traditional route and you also want something different, it can be done. You can always add personal touches to your cake that may have been passed down in your family and still make your cake nontraditional. Maybe you use a cake topper that is sentimental to you but then you utilize the ombre look for the icing on your cake. Ombre can be very elegant or you can go bold, you choose what works best for you. Remember, think outside the box, especially if you have to please many people while planning your wedding.

My Anniversary | Two Years

Who says marriage isn’t fun? Not me! My husband and I just celebrated our two-year anniversary yesterday and it was pretty amazing 🙂 I feel so lucky that I found someone that shares my sense of humor, loves me unconditionally, and supports me and all of my crazy ideas.

Every year I love being able to look back at all of our wedding photos and remember those amazing memories on the day we agreed to spend the rest of our lives together. Surrounded with friends and family it was one of the most exciting times of my life. This was not only eye opening in the fact that I understood what the true meaning of true love meant, but it also allowed me to see that this entire event was magical and that I wanted to be able to give that to other couples!

Being together for nearly 6 years, owning 2 dogs, living in 3 cities and 2 different states, having 9 jobs between the two of us and the starting of my wedding and event planning business and social events company, we have had our fair share of change and challenges and I wouldn’t of wanted to go thorough it with anybody else. We are also lucky enough to have been able to escape our crazy lives by traveling to South Carolina, Florida, California, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, England, Italy, the Bahamas, France, and Switzerland. We will also be expanding our travel list to include Spain, Morocco, Croatia, Hungry, Austria, and the Czech Republic in the coming weeks! See, we agreed that after we got married, every year for our anniversary we would take a trip and this year we decided to travel to Europe.

Hopefully our story inspires those of you who have not tied the knot yet. Marriage is what you make it and to us it is super fun so don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise!

District Bliss is Expanding!!

District Bliss has become so successful that we decided to expand! We love helping vendors to be able to grow their own businesses and have fun while doing it, so why not share the love?

We will now be hosting couples socials too! How exciting, right? We wanted to have a social where newly engaged couples have a good time and also become more educated on how to plan their weddings. Our couples social will be slightly different than our vendor social. We will be announcing all the details very soon, so stay tuned! For now, feel free to check out our Facebook page or our District Bliss pages (here) + (here).
